Each year, the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Cities Initiative invites panelists and speakers to talk on a central theme concerning municipalities and the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River.
2021 Annual General Meeting – SAVE THE DATE
Join fellow Mayors at the 2021 virtual Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Cities Initiative Annual Meeting to discuss climate challenges facing cities and their impact into the future.
The Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Cities Initiative Annual Group Meeting is back again and will be virtual this year, held on August 25th and 26th. The program is still in development, however, we are very excited to share our theme: “Climate Change – 2021 and Beyond.”
Here are some topics to expect:
- Planning and funding of shoreline resilience for today and the long term;
- Determining the impact and cost of climate change on cities and their infrastructure for today and the long term;
- Dealing with issues of water equity in communities that include the cost of water, lead issues, water infrastructure, and water quality;
- The impact of COVID-19 on city infrastructure and operations projects.
Virtual break-out rooms will be used to encourage collaboration and sharing of learnings from counterparts, and in creating opportunities for long-term collaboration.
This virtual annual meeting will help Mayors prepare for the impact of climate change now and 30 years into the future. We will keep you updated as we confirm outside speakers. Registration will be opening soon.
