Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Parliament Hill Days

The Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Cities Initiative, in partnership with the Council of the Great Lakes Region, the Great Lakes Fishery Commission, and Freshwater Future, are thrilled to hold the second annual Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Parliament Hill Days in Ottawa, Ontario on November 21 and 22, 2017.

During its 2016 Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Parliament Hill Days, the representatives from a handful the four environmental organizations, as well as delegates from Strategies Saint Laurent, Alliance for the Great Lakes, Canadian Environmental Law Association, le Regroupement des organismes de bassins versants du Québec, and Environmental Defence Canada, held meetings with key Ministers and Members of Parliament. The group introduced the idea of a Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Task Force on the Canadian Interparliamentary Group and requested the Government of Canada's participation in the creation of a common vision and blueprint for the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence region.

The steering committee for the group, also known as the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Collaborative, has since developed a draft Discussion Paper outlining its vision for the region. Currently, the Collaborative is seeking input from stakeholders in the region to develop a finalized vision.
