Kari Hatcher
Kari Hatcher represents General Motors on the Industry Leaders Circle. Kari joined GM in September 2021 and is based in the Global Public Policy office in Washington, D.C. She is responsible for engaging local government officials, with a focus on facility cities, to help GM achieve its vision of Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions, and Zero Congestion.
Previously, she led D.C.-based corporate engagement around GM’s global operations regularly representing the company in front of high-level officials and supporting executive engagement with foreign ministers, heads of state, and administration officials. Kari joined GM from the U.S. Department of State, where she was a Foreign Service Officer for eight years. During her career, Kari was assigned to U.S. Embassy Berlin where she was staff assistant to the Ambassador and promoted environmental cooperation in the economic section. She also worked at U.S. Embassy Tokyo, U.S. Embassy Santo Domingo, and in the Bureau of Energy Resources.
A native of Detroit, Kari attended Spelman College in Atlanta where she earned a B.A. in International Studies. She later attended The Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies in Washington D.C., earning a M.A. in International Relations and Economics, with a focus in energy, resources, and the environment.
